License & support

GrowlerDB is open core. The full engine (full-text, vector, and hybrid search over your Apache Iceberg data) is open source under the GNU AGPL-3.0, free for self-hosted production use up to the open-source scale limit of 3 nodes. No feature is held back from the free build.

A commercial license from GrowlerDB LLC adds three things, available today:

Run at scale

The free tier runs up to 3 primary-holding nodes. To run more, a commercial license raises the limit. Your existing nodes keep running, and only new capacity is gated. Nothing is removed from the software; a signed license simply lifts the cap.

Support with an SLA

Get a guaranteed response time on the open-source core, with private channels and a named contact. Because GrowlerDB runs on your infrastructure, the SLA covers support response, not uptime. That is a straight answer about what you’re actually buying.

Embed it in a closed product

Shipping GrowlerDB inside a proprietary or closed-source product? A commercial license grants an exception to the AGPL’s copyleft for your product (an OEM / embedding license).

Commercial customers also get prioritized input into roadmap planning: your needs help shape what we build next.

Building something that needs enterprise identity, auditing, or governance? Talk to us. We work with commercial customers on these directly.
